It's the start to a new week. I feel like as soon as I say that, it's already time for the end of a week!!! That's how fast things have been going so far this year! In fact, this is the LAST week of the first quarter!! That's crazy!! With that said, I keep reminding the kiddos to MAKE SURE to do their very best on things they turn in, and MAKE SURE they get it ALL turned in. This way they won't have any missing assignments when it comes time for me to print report cards!!
Today, we were CRAM PACKED this morning. We had PE, library skills, the fire department came for fire prevention week, Exploration Place, our pre-spelling test, and we squeezed in a little chit chat about Japan since that's the setting of our new story Grandfather's Journey! We started Unit 3 in math, which is going to be all about ALGEBRA!! They were all pretty nervous about that word, but I assured them, it's not that hard...I promise!! This math unit will be lots and lots of multiplication fact practice!!!
We also will be starting our new story Grandfather's Journey!! Along with that we are studying landforms and the various facts about Japan. We are also starting a book report project that will review character traits! To do this, we will use a pumpkin as our canvas for our characters. Students are asked to pick their FAVORITE character from ANY book that they have read. They will then complete a book report, and finalize it with creating their "pumpkin character." It should be a blast, and the pumpkins always turn out sooooo cute! If we can have their pumpkins to school by Friday that would be AWESOME!!!
Homework tonight is HL 3.1, the pumpkin note, and read AR!!
Have a good night,
Mrs. Elder
