Happy Monday everyone!! It was a great day!! We read through Grandfather's Journey just to refresh our minds since it had been an entire weekend since hearing or talking abou the story! We then worked on our timelines, which are turning out great! We also talked more about Japan and compared it to the US!! Later in the morning Mr. Tom was here with Exploration Place where we discussed transferring energy through collisions! That was fun...banging the balls together to see how they reacted!!
This afternoon we used raisins to collect data and sort the maximum, minimum, median, mode and range! They did a great job collecting information and finding the data!! We also learned two new math games....Fishing for Digits and FARKLE!! Both games are super fun, and I can't wait to play them throughout the week! Both games have to do with making and using big numbers and focusing on place value!!
We ended the day talking about Social Studies. We are in the beginning stages of studying states and capitals, and we got our folders ready to go! We talked about the various regions of the United States and how we will be exploring each state throughout the year!! It will be an ongoing project that will take the majority of the year!! It's going to be exciting!!
Tomorrow we will continue our reading and math centers as well as fit in some time for library (hopefully MAPS testing is completed for everyone by tomorrow)!
Tonight's homework:
Homelink 2.5
Read 15 minutes
Bonus Question (Thank you Savannah for reminding me): Give me a synonym for the the word bewildered!
Have a fantastic evening,
Mrs. Elder
