WOW...what a fun couple of days it's been!! Yesterday was a BLAST. We spent the majority of the day on our walking field trip because once we got back the kiddos were EXHAUSTED!! We started at the police/fire station! The groups rotated through four sessions (fire department, Detective Dan, police training, and problem solvers). They spent about 20 minutes at each session and then went to the next! They learned a lot about mysteries and everything involved with crime scenes! It was fantastic. THEN...they found out that our sack lunches had been STOLEN!! In order to have a lunch, the groups had to work together to solve the mystery of who stole the lunches!! Each clue led the group to a business where they would receive a new clue! They all did an excellent job solving the crime, and found out that Rick Weiss our school superintendent had stolen our lunches! We ended at the Central Office where we retrieved our lunches, and then headed to Candy Cane City to play! It was beautiful weather and a beatiful day!! The kids did GREAT!!
Today, we spent the morning on "trial!" We learned about the various parts of a trial including a prosecutor, defense attorney, jury, judge, and evidence! The class was divided into 2 groups (the prosecuting group and the defense attornies). They had to use the evidence to present their case and prove their side to be true! It was a blast and they did a fantastic job! They learned that it's a tough job being a detective and proving someone guilty or not guilty!! It's all in the details and facts!!
Tomorrow we will end our week with the class store as well as our AR party! The kids are allowed to bring technology for the party!!
We will also be taking our selection test and spelling test to end the week!!
This week has been great, and next week we will be on to a new story!! It's going to be Thanksgiving break before we know it!!
