Hi all!! I'm going to try to give you a quick update on what we've been up to and some upcoming events!!! I know it's been a pretty crazy time of the year, and it's only going to get crazier so I will try to communicate with you ALL as much as possible! Let me know if you EVER have any questions or concerns!!
In reading we have started the story "Eye of the Storm." This story is an expository non fiction story about a storm chaser's real life! He chases tornadoes, hurricanes, and thunderstorms! It's a great story, and we have learned a ton about different weather patterns and storms! We have studies clouds, rain, and will be continuing our weather studies throughout this week! We have also had the chance to practice some state assessment tests! The kiddos are doing a GREAT job taking the practice tests and using the tools!!
In math we have started Unit 8, which is all about area and perimeter! It is super fun to study this, and the kids have made floorplans for their "houses"! They are in the process of finding the area and perimeters of each room, and soon we will building model houses!! Our Unit 8 test will probably be in about a week and a half!
We had our Character assembly and fan tunnel on Friday!! It was AMAZING! We had the high school golf team and some clowns welcome the kids to school in the morning, and then we had Nick Taylor speak at the assembly in the afternoon! He has a major physical disability that restricts his arms and legs yet he is still an amazing tennis player and even competed and won medals in the Olympics!! WOW!!!
This week we will be kicking off state assessments, participating in a few more practice assessments, continuing Unit 8, and finishing the week with our EISENHOWER TRACK MEET!!! YAY!!!
Have a great day,
Mrs. Elder
